Sworn and civilian personnel make up the Inglewood Police family. The Department stands ready to provide the highest level of service in all phases of law enforcement, including crisis situations of every imaginable magnitude and variety. Highly trained personnel are provided the very Inglewood Police Department enjoys the support and mutual respect of the diverse community it serves. The Department is committed to its motto “Making the Difference” by providing quality service to its citizens, nurturing an atmosphere of respect for all persons, maintaining the highest levels of professionalism, and fostering a spirit of teamwork within the community.

Specialized Units, such as the Department’s Anti-Crime Team, Canine Corps, Motor Squad and SWAT Team, augment a proactive Patrol force. The Detective and Support personnel enhance the Department’s investigative, crime prevention and enforcement responsibilities.

Parking & Special Enforcement Division
The mission of the Parking and Special Enforcement Division is to maintain the highest level of public order through effective parking enforcement by (1) issuing approximately 48,000 parking citations annually, (2) maintaining an aggressive abandoned vehicle and nuisance abatement program, (3) coordinating special events traffic control, (4) administering the Crossing Guard Program in conjunction with Inglewood Unified School District, and (4) operating the Mobile Assistance Program. The Inglewood Police Department embraces a community-oriented approach to policing. The Neighborhood Watch program is at the heart of this strategy, and encourages a holistic crime prevention agenda that includes youth intervention programs. The Business Watch program addresses the business community and its specific needs.
A strong corps of volunteers helps with many auxiliary functions. Police Chaplains and peer counselors provide specialized assistance as counselors and spiritual advisers. Volunteers also perform various administrative and support duties on behalf of the Department.
In the on-going campaign to provide citizens with an understanding of the law enforcement function and the intricacies of police work, the Department conducts a Citizen Police Academy. This ten-week academy, staffed by various Department experts, affords citizens an excellent opportunity to learn about the law and the specialized services that the Department offers to the community. It also provides a venue for the public to interact with police officers in a mutual learning environment.
